To Leave Or Not To Leave

“When is it ok to divorce my husband/wife?”

I get asked this question over and over again and have learned from a close brother-in-Christ to answer the same way every time:

“If you’re willing to separate something God has brought together and told us never to separate and do something He says He hates, then go ahead.”

Instead of looking for excuses for how and why we can leave when things get bad, I believe God wants us to fight for what He’s given us. He didn’t look for reasons not to die for us. He didn’t look for excuses to get out of it. Instead, with love in His heart and joy set before Him, He “endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Him who endured such opposition  from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” (Hebrews 12:2-3)

Stop looking for excuses. Stand up and fight.
