Protect Your Marriage

What steps are you taking to protect your marriage from an affair? Our culture is in a sad state of denial and doing little and sometimes nothing at all, to protect their marriages. I find very few Christian couples who even realize that an affair could be a temptation in their marriage. Unfortunately, that’s what my wife thought as well. “Pride comes before a fall.” And she fell hard.

I talk about this with couples, husbands, and wives all of the time. It seems no one understands the significance of protecting their marriages. The crazy numbers of affairs happening today are a great indicator of the problem. Because we don’t see a need to protect our marriages, they’re under attack and being destroyed.

You and I are vulnerable to an affair. Why? Because we’re human. If David, a man after God’s own heart, could do it, so can we. David did not only take another man’s wife into his own bed, but then he killed him to cover all of it up. Wow! Think about how deep his sin grew to be. Seriously, think about it. It’s crazy.

Paul told the church at Corinth to “flee from sexual immorality.” Are you running from it or are you flirting with it? If you aren’t building Hedges around your marriage to protect, who is?

Do you expect the man who works with your attractive wife to respect you when he knows nothing about you? Why wouldn’t he try to please her? What about the woman at church who is always so flirty with your husband? What guards have you and your husband put up to insure that nothing ever happens?

Start defending and protecting your home. You will never regret having protected the blessing God gave you. But, you will always regret having neglected it. Protect your marriage.

“…what God has joined together, let man not separate.”
