I Watched Them Heal

Last night, I had the opportunity to watch an amazing breakthrough with a couple I’ve been coaching for the last several months. They came to us after two years of separation, an affair, and some difficult-to-overcome verbal and emotional abuse over ten years of marriage.

We’ve spent our time uncovering a lot of suppressed pain between the two of them and establishing Godly guidelines for moving forward. The immensity of the pain was heavy to watch them bear, and the fighting between them was intense on a regular basis. We’ve been thankful to see regular progress over the last few months, but nothing like what happened last night.

Last night was a completely different coaching session. Last night, the walls of pain, separation, and anxiety were taken down in God-like perfection. God’s will was made evident and it was amazing to be a part of.

I watched as they held each other, forgave, cried, prayed, and then healed. The tears, smiles, and prayers were overwhelming to watch. It was a humbling and very intimate experience, but one I hope to see many more times.

“So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.”

Matthew 19:6

If you’ve been praying for these couples, please know they’re being answered in very big ways. We’re seeing the amazing power of Christ as he heals broken marriages and raises homes to walk in paths of righteousness. If you’d like to join in prayer with all of us for these homes, feel free to check out the contact section and shoot us an email. We’ll add you to our list of people who are praying and you can play an instrumental role in helping the rise of the home.

As I know that Ben and his wife, Stephanie, the couple mentioned above (who have asked that we share their names), check our site, please share your encouragement and prayers for them below. I know they’re excited and would love to know how many people care and are praying.

  1. I am SO happy for you!!!! We rejoice with you!!

  2. This is great to hear. We rejoice with you all. Sometimes it gets overwhelming to see everyone around you falling apart – Praise God for bringing healing.

  3. Reading this brought tears to my eyes, I am so happy that they have been restored to themselves, each other and to our ever loving LORD!!!!

  4. I am so touched by this and so thrilled to see the healing. I immediately thought about many of examples in the bible of forgiveness and the freedom it gave to all involved. I think about Jacob and Esau in Genesis 33:4 that says “But Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck and kissed him and they wept.” And when Joseph wept over being back with his brothers even after what they had done to him. Forgiveness frees the one doing the forgiving as much as the one being forgiven.

God is so wise to give us a book filled with so many examples of people with weakness as well as strength and examples of hatred and what it does to you and forgiveness and how that can affect all involved.

My God bless all of you. Derek and Lisa for the work you are doing and the example you have put forth and all of the couples that are brave enough to lay their emotions out and trust each other again. You are all in my prayers and have my deepest respect. I wish I could be there to hug you all. Please know you are in my thoughts.

  5. To Ben and Stephanie, a couple that we are so blessed to have met. You guys are a beautiful example of healing and forgiveness. I pray that you guys continue to grow towards each other and towards Christ. I love you both!

  6. Wow!! This is awesome news!
    Praise God for forgiveness!
Faye is totally right by saying that “forgiving” frees both of you!
Ben and Stephanie, my wife and I will be praying for you. There are still going to be many rough days ahead of you, just please remember to trust in Jesus, that He will get you both through it.
    He will heal you!!

” And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose” – Rom. 8:28
